Actress Victoria Smurfit, a native of Dublin, has been announced as the Grand Marshal and will lead out the parade. She is known for starring in Ballykissangel, Once Upon a Time, and Disney+’s Rivals. The parade of 4,000 participants will include marching bands from around the globe, performers in colourful costumes, troupes of dancers and a spectacular display of floats.
While many people will have likely stocked up in advance, those who haven't should be aware that supermarkets across the country will be operating with reduced hours today.Over a thousand gardai will place a ring of steel around Dublin city centre - as St Patrick’s Day festivities get under way. Forecasters at Met Eireann say today should stay dry but cloudy conditions will keep the temperatures down. However spring will really kick in as the week rolls on.
