Met Éireann has warned of “severe flooding” and "damage to homes and businesses" for parts of Ireland as two counties have been placed under a Status Red warning ahead of Storm Bert .

The national forecaster says Storm Bert is expected to cause significant flooding impacts, which will continue across the weekend even after the rainfall warnings expire, due to the delayed effect of rivers discharge.
