The University of Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome was significantly damaged by Storm Éowyn overnight, forcing its closure. While thankfully no one was hurt, the facility, which hosts numerous schools games and boasts space for over 600 supporters, will be rebuilt. The €3.1 million dome, which opened in late 2021, was the largest indoor sporting dome in the world at the time of its completion.

More pictures have emerged of the devastated Connacht GAA Air Dome at Bekan in Mayo, which was destroyed by Storm Éowyn overnight.

The Dome added to the already impressive facilities at the 83 acre site in Mayo, which includes five full size Prunty pitches, and one 3G pitch, with three of those fields floodlit.
