Last-minute talks saw union members accepting a new pay deal
Nottingham's tram operator says it will offer a "strengthened service" during parts of the annual Goose Fair after strike action affecting the event was avoided. Talks have been taking place for weeks after the GMB Union first said at the start of September that around 300 staff on the tram network could walk out.
But the GMB Union confirmed on Thursday that its members had accepted a revised pay offer and that the strike action had been called off. It was due to take place for 10 days until October 8. "This year, we're pleased to be able to do that once again, with trams running every ten minutes each and every day. We also have a strengthened service running in the evenings during all ten days, with trams running every five minutes until 10.00pm to Wilkinson Street and into the city to help manage busy crowds who want to get home from the fair.
