He made the comments hours after a blaze started at the Crowne Paint Factory in Coolock. The site had been protested over the last number of days due to proposals to move asylum seekers onto the site.

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has said that the motivations of people setting fire to proposed asylum seeker accommodation have to be questioned.

“I believe the fire brigade got there quickly and I believe the damage has been limited. I think we have to look at everything in perspective. It is not satisfactory that people get access to a site. “I’m going to get a full report, I don’t have the full details in terms of the full background to that.
