Taoiseach Micheál Martin has denied that there was any deal with Michael Lowry during government formation talks to guarantee opposition speaking time to a group of regional independent TDs.
When Mr Martin was asked in Athlone if opposition speaking time was part of the deal brokered with the Regional Independents and Mr Lowry, he insisted it was not. “There was a mechanism more or less agreed. That was the Dáil Reform Business committee. It is still meeting. We're committed to a resolution of it. It's not as simple as has been articulated across the board.
