Changeable conditions are on the cards as the week progresses, but a weather system heading for Ireland from the west offers hope of much better things from next Monday

Mixed weather conditions look set to continue in the coming days, with sunny spells interspersed with cloud and rainfall, but an area of high pressure approaching from the Atlantic is providing hope of better prospects for next week.

A few mist or fog patches will form. Lowest temperatures generally of 6 to 11 degrees, although possibly cooler along northwestern coasts, in a light variable breeze.A generally dry start with sunny spells. Showery outbreaks of rain will develop during the day especially in parts of the north and west. The southeast may stay mostly dry.
