Sir Bobby Charlton graced the League of Ireland for a short period of time in 1976.
Tributes have poured in around the World after the news broke earlier today that Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton had passed away at the age of 86.

A player of his stature required special treatment and that came in the form of his one-of-a-kind contract. Per his deal with Waterford, Charlton was to be paid a portion of the gate receipts in games involving Waterford.
For the second game of his tenure, Waterford were confident that another record gate would be forthcoming. However, despite 6,000 supporters showing up, there was to be no record gate. Charlton still gave fans their money's worth however and even smashed home a trademark goal to please those in attendance.
