Jackson 5 founding member and brother of pop king Michael Jackson, Tito Jackson, has died aged 70 - he still performed with the iconic group to this day

Tributes have poured in for the brother of the late pop king Michael Jackson who has reportedly passed away after suffering a heart attack while driving. The music icon - a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee - was performing with the group as recently as August. He was photographed with Jackie Jackson and Marlon Jackson of Jackson 5 and The Jacksons performing at the Fool in Love Festival at Hollywood Park Grounds on August 31, 2024 in Inglewood, California.

"I’m stunned and devastated to receive and hear this disheartening news. I love Tito like my brothers of blood relation. I’m stunned and dismayed. May God and Jesus Christ receive his soul and spirit with open out stretched arms and welcome him into Heaven’s gate…this is my most sincere prayer this night, this day, this month, and now….this year. I’m at a loss of spirits.

He told how he felt Michael's presence whenever he walked out on stage and saw Michael's smile in the faces of his children - and he said he was continuing to fight for Michael's legacy. He told the Mirror at the time : "The world was not kind to Michael at all. I don't know why. I would always say if we didn't have him, we sure would miss him. His death was such a major tragedy. The world definitely missed out on a lot of goodness from him, because he wasn't just a musician or an artist, he was a loving person. He loved to give."

He said of them: "They're still fairly young and haven't figured it all out yet, but yes, he would be proud." It was clear that despite his age, Tito had been determined to throw himself into his performance, promising in August to "play some good music, do some dancing and have a party!" as the group was set to headline Rewind South in Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, UK, in August. Other names on the bill over the weekend included Billy Ocean, Gabrielle and Kim Wilde.
