The Bulgarian Red Cross was alerted to the situation at 2:30 pm local time, prompting a swift emergency response. \A helicopter was dispatched to the scene but encountered technical difficulties and had to return to base.

Undeterred, rescue teams proceeded on foot, navigating the challenging terrain to reach the injured tourist. Upon finding him, they provided immediate first aid. \The man, with extremely serious injuries, was then transported on a stretcher and a snowmobile before being taken to a hospital in Sofia. The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed they were aware of the incident and were providing consular assistance to the injured tourist
