Both teams have big games in London

Football fans could experience some disruption if they are planning to travel to watch Nottingham Forest or Notts County play in London. East Midlands Railway services will not run on Friday, May 12, and services on Saturday, May 13, will be significantly reduced and only run on limited routes.

On Saturday, Nottingham Forest will be playing Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge stadium and Notts County will be playing Chesterfield at Wembley Stadium in the National League play-off final. Fans hoping to travel to the match are likely to face major disruptions if travelling by train. EMR services will run between 7am and 7pm only on Saturday. Passengers are asked to only travel by rail if absolutely necessary, and to expect severe disruption if they do travel, with short notice alterations and cancellations.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Railway stated: "Please do not travel by train if you are attending the Nottingham Forest v Chelsea football match or the Notts County v Chesterfield National League final as you will not be able to return home on the same day. The last direct train from London St Pancras to Chesterfield departs at 1532 and the last train to Nottingham departs at 1605."

Strike action will affect routes across the country and so passengers should also check their full journey before travelling. It is expected that on Sunday, May 14, a normal timetable will be back in effect but services are expected to be busy.
