Train journey from Glasgow named one of Europe's best family railway adventures by National Geographic
A train journey that departs from Glasgow has been named as one of the best in Europe for families by a luxury travel magazine.
The likes of the Paris to Barcelona trip and Switzerland's Chocolate Train were included, but in at number three is a service that departs from Glasgow Queen Street.The West Highland Line, which transports people to the North West Coast via the Highlands, finds itself included on the list, with 'plenty of reasons' given for the journey being an 'ideal family adventure', including the opportunity to travel over the Glenfinnan Viaduct - made famous by Harry Potter.
"There are plenty of reasons why this is an ideal family adventure — steam trains, fish and chips at the coastal terminus of Mallaig, valleys, mountains and the unforgettable views. Plus it’s inextricably linked to the Harry Potter films, with the curving arches of the Glenfinnan Viaduct a highlight even for mere Muggles.
