An 11-year-old boy from Co Kerry, Elliot Horgan, has tragically passed away after battling a rare illness. Elliot, who lived with Sturge Weber Syndrome (SWS), touched the lives of many with his resilience and kind spirit.
Elliot Horgan , an 11-year-old boy from Cahersiveen , Co Kerry , has sadly passed away after a courageous battle with Sturge Weber Syndrome (SWS). Born with this rare condition, Elliot faced numerous challenges throughout his life. SWS, characterized by a facial birthmark and the potential for abnormal blood vessels in the brain leading to seizures, left Elliot unable to walk or talk.
He also endured epilepsy and scoliosis, requiring constant care from his devoted mother, Aoife, who became his sole carer. Despite his physical limitations, Elliot attended St Francis Special School in Beaufort, where he received specialized education and made many cherished memories. The school community, deeply affected by his passing, shared their heartfelt condolences and tributes online, remembering Elliot as a gentle and brave soul. Elliot's short life touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. He is remembered as a 'true warrior' who faced his challenges with resilience and grace. Tributes poured in from friends, family, and the wider community, expressing their deepest sympathies and celebrating the joy Elliot brought into their lives. His funeral, held on Saturday in The Daniel O'Connell Memorial Church in Cahersiveen, was a testament to the love and support surrounding him.
