Trucks were pelted with stones on an Irish motorway, causing damage and prompting calls for severe repercussions from authorities. Multiple HGVs had their windshields smashed, with a Dublin Coach bus also caught in the crossfire. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
The President of the Irish Road Haulage Association has slammed the "absolute horror” that took place on an Irish motorway when trucks were pelted with stones, as he called for the “highest possible repercussions” for the perpetrators.
A number of HGVs had their windshields smashed, with videos and images on social media showing drivers pulled over onto the hard shoulder following the shocking incident, which thankfully resulted in no injuries. "We would also push for the highest possible repercussions, up to and including attempted manslaughter. There was a coach caught up in the middle of this mayhem and the consequences of these deliberate actions could have been horrendous with multiple fatalities."
“The carnage that could have been on that M7 motorway last night. Take your worst-case scenario, and it doesn't come close. Last night, every ambulance in Limerick and the Midlands wouldn't have the capability of ferrying the people off that road.”
