Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that US President Donald Trump could visit Ireland as early as June
Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Mr Varadkar said President Trump may come to Ireland as part of a visit to Europe that he's due to make to attend D-Day commemorations.
He said that while no date has been discussed or agreed, "the most likely" scenario would be that the visit would form part of one of two trips that President Trump is due to make to Europe this year.During his meeting with the Taoiseach at the White House on Thursday, President Trump confirmed he would be visiting Ireland this year.
Meanwhile, Mr Varadkar will attend a mass in Chicago today before attending the St Patrick's Day Parade in the city. He will then take a boat trip on the Chicago River which, as is the tradition, will have been dyed green as part of the festivities.
