Taoiseach Leo Varadkar met with US President Donald Trump in Washington
He said that the Taoiseach is going through a complex time because of Brexit. Mr Trump also said that he thinks Brexit could have been negotiated better.

He said: "I am happy to report to the Taoiseach that I have spoken to Mom, first generation Irish-American and mother-of-nine, and she has confirmed that she will travel with us to Ireland and we are making plans to return to my grandfather's homestead as we speak." He also said that he would welcome and appreciate ongoing support from the US on protecting the Good Friday Agreement.
"Whatever happens with Brexit, we are sure about our place in the world. We know where we are going, and we are confident about the future."
