Two friends were targeted in a terrifying shooting on Dublin's M50 motorway on Tuesday night. Gardai are investigating the incident, which they believe is linked to a low-level feud in north Dublin.
Gardai have launched an investigation after two men were shot at as they drove along Ireland’s busiest motorway. The Irish Mirror has learned that two friends were lucky to survive after as many as six shots were fired at them as they drove for their lives along Dublin ’s M50 on Tuesday night. Sources tell us the two friends were sitting in a car in the Sillogue area of Ballymun when their ordeal started at around 10.30pm.
It’s understood they were chased by two men in a car – who fired at them as they reached the slip road to the M50 northbound. They told gardai they were then chased along the M50 to the Clonshaugh roundabout close to Dublin Airport, then onto the N32 towards Malahide. They say six shots were fired at them in total – with one bullet smashing into the car’s rear window close to the Northern Cross area. The men managed to escape their attackers in the Kinsealy area – before driving to Malahide Garda Station and abandoning their own car there and running away. Sources say a technical examination of the car established that at least one bullet smashed into it. There were no injuries. Gardai are now investigating the attack, which they suspect is connected to a low-level feud in north Dublin. The Garda Press Office has been contacted for comment
