It's been eight years since a UFC event last took place in the Republic of Ireland.
The UFC boss was speaking to reporters at the UFC289 press conference and confirmed the Irish capital will see UFC action at some stage next year.
There has been an explosion of Irish talent emerging throughout the world of Mixed Martial Arts with Conor McGregor's comeback on the horizon, success for Ian Garry and multiple other rising MMA stars.There have been three UFC events in Ireland with the most recent in 2015. Garry's recent success, including his win over veteran Neill Magny at the weekend, has brought with it fresh calls for an Irish return for the sport.
There is no concrete timeframe for the Dublin event next year but things are looking very promising for a first UFC event in the Republic of Ireland for what will be nine years when 2024 rolls around.
