It's difficult to imagine an Ireland without the iconic tricolour but in the event of a changed Ireland it's a distinct possibility
Some republicans are hopeful of a vote taking place within the next 10 to 15 years.
As a result of the political situation in the North, it is likely, that should the electorate vote in favour of reunification, there would inevitably be some degree of compromise needed to convince those who identify as British unionists to get on board.Possible compromises include maintaining Stormont and some form of devolution in the North as well as shelving Amhrán na bhFiann and replacing it with a new national anthem.
One of the most discussed compromises that could happen in the event of a United Ireland is the changing of Ireland's flag, the unmistakable green, white and orange tricolour, and replacing it with a completely new one. It's difficult to imagine an Ireland without the iconic tricolour but in the event of a changed Ireland it's a distinct possibility.
That's precisely why we are asking you, our readers, if changing the Irish tricolour to something different meant there could be a United Ireland would it be something you would be open to.Join the Irish Mirror’s breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive breaking news and the latest headlines direct to your phone.
