People have been asked to avoid the area
A road leading into a north Nottinghamshire town has been closed by the emergency services due to a fire. The incident has been described as "serious" by eyewitnesses at the scene.
It has been described as a big field fire just off Coxmoor Road, near the Sherwood Observatory, in Sutton-in-Ashfield. It is understood the road is currently closed and four fire engines are at the scene. Councillor Tom Hollis, who represents Sutton West for the Ashfield Independents, is at the scene. He said: "The fire looks serious. I have been asked to point out that the fire is under control. I would ask residents to avoid the Coxmoor Road area.”Pictures from the scene show Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police at the scene. Smoke is obscuring the view of the road. Follow the blog below for the latest on this incident.
