Former Wales international T. Rhys Thomas joins the coaching team as a skills coach for the remainder of the Six Nations Championship. He will work alongside coach Matt Sherratt and the existing coaching staff to help improve the team's performance.

Wales has bolstered its back-room staff by appointing former international T. Rhys Thomas as a skills coach for the remainder of the Six Nations. Thomas joins coach Matt Sherratt , who is leading the team on a temporary basis following the departure of Warren Gatland last week after a run of 14 consecutive defeats. After suffering opening losses to France and Italy, Wales , facing a challenging campaign, welcomes Ireland to Cardiff on Saturday at 2.15pm.

Thomas, who amassed 27 appearances for Wales during his playing career, has also represented Cardiff, Wasps, and the Dragons. His current role with Gloucester in the Premiership will see him return to the club following the conclusion of the championship.Thomas will assume a specific responsibility for developing the skills of the forward pack. He will collaborate closely with forwards coach Jonathan Humphreys and scrum consultant Adam Jones, who is also on loan from his club Harlequins for the duration of the championship. Expressing his enthusiasm for the appointment, Sherratt stated, “I’m delighted that TR will be joining the coaching team and I’d like to thank Gloucester for allowing him to come on secondment to Wales. Having known TR for a number of years, I think he will be a great fit for the group. “I’m excited to officially start in the role now and get preparations underway for our match against Ireland on Saturday.” Thomas, in his own statement, remarked, “Firstly I would like to thank Gloucester and George Skivington for allowing me to take up this opportunity to join Wales for the remaining three Guinness Six Nations games. “It’s all happened very quickly the past few days but I’m excited for the challenge and looking forward to getting stuck in, working with Matt and the other coaches.”Following the Ireland encounter, Wales will embark on a trip to face Scotland on March 8th and conclude their campaign against England on March 15th. Wales senior men’s coaching team currently comprises Matt Sherratt, Jonathan Humphreys, Adam Jones, and the newly appointed T. Rhys Thomas
