'The voodoo of not getting past this stage will be gone. This is the best Ireland team that I’ve seen in my lifetime.'
Legendary Welsh winger Shane Williams believes this current Irish side is the best in the team's history and thinks Andy Farrell's men have what it takes to beat the All Blacks.
With multiple wins over top-tier nations, a grand slam success and a test series win in New Zealand, Williams believes this Irish side deserves to be considered the best team to ever wear the green jersey."This is the greatest Ireland team of all time. It feels strange saying that when you think of the teams with Paul O’Connell and Brian O’Driscoll – they were unbelievable players," Williams told Gambling Zone.
Perhaps the final frontier for this Irish side is to finally secure a win in a World Cup quarter-final. Ireland have never reached a semi-final and have been heartbroken at the last eight stage on seven occasions in the past. "Ireland, with Farrell and Sexton and the maturity they have, they will be focussed on getting a result. They will know that they are good enough to beat New Zealand and they go into the match as favourites. I think they will have the same approach as they did against Scotland, and they will be confident that they can win this game and the World Cup.
