Long-range weather maps have indicated that Ireland could see temperatures of 23C later this month. However, Met Eireann's forecast for the month of June show somewhat of a weather rollercaster.

Long-range weather maps have suggested that Ireland could see 23C heat later this month. It comes as the country has endured cooler temperatures and unsettled conditions in recent days.

Heatwaves are often defined as five days of consecutive above average temperatures, but the national forecaster previously told the Irish Mirror: "That is a working definition used by some other met offices, but the Met Eireann definition of a heatwave is five consecutive days of temperatures above 25C.”READ MORE: All of the items Ryanair passengers should never pack in their hand luggage

For the following week of Monday, June 24 to Sunday, June 30, it continued: "This week is indicated to be more settled as high pressure continues to build and having more of an influence over the country with a largely slack airflow. Much of the country will have around average temperatures, possibly a bit warmer than normal in the southwest. Drier than average conditions are expected throughout the country. No hazardous weather is indicated.

"A dry start for Munster and much of Leinster Sunday with sunny spells. However rain in Connacht, Ulster and parts of north Leinster will continue to push further south over the country during the afternoon but won't reach the south coast until nightfall. Drier and brighter weather with sunny spells and showers will extend across Ulster in the evening. Highs of 10C to 14C for most areas but reaching 15C to 17C in the south and southeast.
