The death has taken place of the chairman of stockbroking firm Goodbody and well-known Irish businessman, Gary Kennedy.

In January Mr Kennedy temporarily stepped back from duties as chairman of UK listed bathroom and kitchen manufacturer, Norcros Plc, due to ill-health."The Board of Directors on behalf of the entire Group expresses its sincere condolences to Gary's family and many friends," it said.

He then became Group Finance Director for AIB as well as a board member of the bank, where he remained until 2005. "Gary – who was our Chair for ten years until January 2023 – was a great leader, a dedicated businessman, a true people person and a valued friend and advisor," the company said in a statement today.Mr Kennedy was also previously chairman of Green Reit and the Connect Group in the UK.
