Whole Foods in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on W. 63rd Street is closing after being open just six years an area considered a 'food desert.'
However, some customers said they feel let down.
"It was exciting when we received the news in the neighborhood that Whole Foods was coming. As you may know, there are not many grocery stores in Englewood, so to have a Whole Foods was a big thing and a big deal. And so, to hear of the closing very disheartening and upsetting," said Tiffany West, a Whole Foods shopper.A spokesperson for Whole Foods told ABC7 that eligible employees who wanted to stay with the company will be transferred to other locations.
The spokesperson went on to say the company is working closely with the landlord to find another tenant.
