21-year-old Kerry is representing Wicklow in this year's Rose of Tralee Festival and was given some sound advice from her dad, Ireland and Leinster rugby legend Shane Byrne
Wicklow Rose Kerry Byrne has lifted the lid on growing up with a famous dad – and revealed the wise words of wisdom he shared with her.
“He told me if there are any really negative comments, to have a really good answer to put them back in their place. Or just smile and walk away and to always put up a nice front,” Kerry added. “For years we thought why are people doing this? I remember on our first day of school he dropped us in and all of the other kids swarmed him. Me and Alex were like, okay this is our life now.”
“Every time he got voted in you could probably hear me on television, I was screaming that loud! I was very proud of him and how far he went.”
