Irish pop band Wild Youth are due to appear on tonight's Late Late Show
Irish pop band Wild Youth are due to appear on tonight's Late Late Show as the Eurovision hopefuls have a chat with Ryan Tubridy.
The band, made up of Conor O’Donohoe, Ed Porter, Callum McAdam, and David Whelan found themselves winning the accolade of representing Ireland in the Eurovision on their last appearance on the show. The musicians have said they are determined to bring home the Eurovision crown in a new chat on 98FM's Big Breakfast. With less than two weeks to go before the competition, Conor said it's a dream come true to represent Ireland."The past acts, like Brooke have been amazing, and we're going to try and do everything we can to get out of that semi-final" he told Rebecca Shekleton.
The band made headlines this week after cutting ties with choreographer and creative director, Ian Banham, a row which escalated online leading to author JK Rowling becoming involved. “Wild Youth is a band that stands for unity and kindness. Our song represents our beliefs as a band. We have cut all ties with Ian Banham and will not have him on or near our team or Eurovision journey. The band added in a follow-up tweet that they were with Michael Kealy, RTÉ’s head of delegation for Eurovision, when they first saw the tweets and that he and RTÉ were as “horrified as we were."The band will compete in the first semi-final on Tuesday, 9th of May.
