It's understood a woman who was walking in the area last night was hit by a vehicle

The woman, a pedestrian aged in her 60s, was pronounced dead after being hit by a car which failed to remain at the scene.The scene of the collision is preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.The section of road from Cross Guns Bridge to the junction of Phibsborough Road and Connaught Street is closed and local diversions are in place.
