New Ireland manager Carla Ward has been tasked with getting Ireland to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
RTÉ has struck a deal with the FAI to provide live coverage of the Ireland women’s national team over the next two years.
The deal will cover the duration of the 2027 World Cup campaign, as well as this year’s Nations League, which kicks off on February 21 at home to Turkey. The Girls in Green have a new manager in former Aston Villa boss Carla Ward, and are bidding for a second consecutive World Cup qualification, having made their major tournament debut at the 2023 finals in Australia.
RTÉ’s deal, an extension of a partnership that has been in place since 2019, will cover the Nations League, the World Cup qualifiers, and all international friendlies. FAI Commercial Director Sean Kavanagh said: “RTÉ have shown incredible support over the last few years to help us grow our audience and fan base in tandem with the rise of women and girls’ football in Ireland.The Nations League opener against Turkey will be broadcast on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player.
