Paula Canty, a 32-year-old mother of two, was found dead in a Mallow apartment with a suspected stab wound. Gardai are investigating the death as a possible murder. Tributes have poured in for the young woman, who was described as a 'lovely young lady'.

Tributes have been paid to a young mother-of-two who was found dead in suspicious circumstances in a flat in Co Cork earlier this week.

A postmortem examination on Ms Canty's body was carried out by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster on Saturday. While gardai have not released the results of the postmortem examination, it is understood that the case will now be upgraded to murder. Another added: "Sorry to hear of a lovely young lady passing away. Her whole life has been taking away from her And leaving a young family behind here Deepest sympathy to her mother & her kids & the rest of her family We will keep ye in our prayers at this sad time. May Paula rest in peace."

On Friday officers were conducting door to door enquiries and attempting to harvest CCTV footage from nearby businesses and premises.
