A new series of First Dates Ireland has returned to viewers' screens, featuring singletons looking for love. One date sparked amusement and confusion when a woman surprised her match with a guitar serenade. Viewers took to social media to share their reactions, with some expressing amusement and others finding it cringeworthy.

Eight singletons visited the First Dates restaurant looking for love in last night's episode, with plenty of sweet, cringey and emotional moments as usual.

The first pair we saw in the new series were IT manager Paddy from Kildare and 23-year-old singer-songwriter Dervla from Donegal. The couple got on like a house on fire, although they did differ on music taste, with Paddy admitting that Christy Moore wasn't to his taste despite Dervla's love for the musician.

After dinner, she played a song for Paddy, and he admitted it was the last thing he had expected from a date. "Did anyone else think that was very much a David Brent moment?" another laughed, sharing a video of the iconic The Office character asking someone to get him a guitar.Elsewhere in the restaurant sparks were flying as Luis , originally from Brazil and living in Dublin immediately clicked with his date Doyle from Nigeria.
