Over €33 million in road grants were announced for Kerry , with a total allocation of €713 million for road projects across Ireland . The funding, an 8% increase from last year, will be used for road strengthening, preventive surface dressing, maintenance, bridge rehabilitation, safety improvements, and drainage works. Projects like the Shannon Crossing and Killaloe bypass project in Clare and the Coonagh to Knockalisheen Distributor Road in Limerick will benefit from this investment.
\The largest allocation, €82.8 million, went to Cork, followed by Galway (€43.6 million) and Donegal and Tipperary (€42 million each). Mayo received €40 million, while Clare and Limerick were each allocated €39 million. Kerry received €33 million, while Dublin local authorities received the lowest allocations, ranging from €35,000 to €182,500. \Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien emphasized the importance of maintaining and renewing the road network for social and economic connectivity. He highlighted the significant increase in funding for road rehabilitation and maintenance in 2025, stating that it is fundamental to keeping the network in good condition. Seán Canney, Minister of State at the Department of Transport, pointed out that funding was allocated for over 330 road safety projects to reduce fatalities and serious injuries, and for 315 climate adaptation projects to ensure the long-term sustainability and resilience of Irish roads
