The Alliance Party and Sinn Féin have decided to skip the annual St. Patrick's Day visit to the White House in protest of President Trump's policies and actions.

The Alliance Party , along with Sinn Féin , has decided to boycott this year's St Patrick's visit to the White House in Washington. This decision comes as a direct response to the policies and actions of the current US administration under President Donald Trump . Alliance Party leader Naomi Long , speaking at her party's annual conference in South Belfast, stated that she respects the right of US citizens to elect their leader but does not respect the current office holder.

Long criticized Trump's approach to governing, particularly his isolationist policies and provocative behavior towards democratic allies. She highlighted the US's recent voting record at the United Nations, where it aligned with North Korea, Russia, and Belarus, while simultaneously engaging in aggressive actions against long-standing partners. Long emphasized that the Alliance Party will not engage with a leader who prioritizes his personal relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the democratic mandate of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the sovereignty of Ukraine. Long also condemned the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) for spreading a divisive narrative between farmers and environmentalists in Northern Ireland. She stated that the DUP's actions are fueled by a desire to create division rather than address the complex issues facing the agricultural sector. Meanwhile, Andrew Muir, the Alliance Party MLA and Stormont's Agriculture Minister, challenged the DUP's narrative, stating that the reality on the ground is vastly different and that the Alliance Party is committed to finding solutions that benefit both farmers and the environment.
