Irish drivers are being urged not to drive and take extreme caution as Storm Eowyn hits across Ireland on Friday with a nationwide red weather warning being put into place.
Insurance Ireland told RSVP Live that your insurance will operate as normal, and damage caused by the storm is covered by some insurance polies, explaining: "Motor insurance cover operates as normal, as your legal liability to others is covered by all policies."However, they urged motorists to check their individual policies adding: "Third party fire and theft policies do not provide cover for storm damage to your car.
Meanwhile the Road Safety Authority is urging people not to drive at all on Friday issuing a first of its kind warning due to the “unprecedented and life-threatening” storm. With destructive gusts in excess of 130km/h, they explained that during Storm Éowyn “public safety is paramount”.
