The council will introduce some “technical solutions” to curb instances of “inappropriate behaviour” ongoing outside the installation in Dublin

Dublin City Council will implement "technical solutions" to address "inappropriate behaviour" taking place at the Dublin to New York Portal, which was launched last week.

Since launching last Wednesday, May 8, several videos have been circulated across social media accounts showing a swath of inappropriate behaviour taking place in front of the newly installed portal. The behaviour prompted the New York Post to write a scathing piece bashing behaviour on the Irish side of the portal, slamming the “mischief-makers” who mooned the Portal and displayed images of the 9/11 tragedy.

“Unfortunately, we have also been witnessing a very small minority of people engaged in inappropriate behaviour, which has been amplified through social media,” the spokesperson for Dublin City Council said. “We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days with our partners in New York to ensure that Portals continue to deliver a positive experience for both cities and the world.”
