Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said there would be a phased reopening from September with specific dates to be revealed on Tuesday

The resumption of communions and confirmations in September, as well as a phased relaxation in the numbers at outdoor events, are among the plans being considered by Government.

"We're going to have to continue when we reopen to do what has worked, a steady reopening, bringing back holy communions and confirmations, bringing back entertainment, bringing back a return to work is probably the most important. The outline of the roadmap is "broadly agreed" upon, Mr Ryan said, but unwinding the restrictions "will take a bit of time".

He also urged people to get vaccinated and go for their second dose as Ireland isn't far from "the incredible achievement" of having almost everyone fully inoculated against the virus. That is despite NPHET proposing that over 90% of people aged over 16 years should be fully jabbed before significant remaining restrictions are lifted.
