Paddy Cullivan says 12 days without power has been like a Die Hard movie, and warned the ESB against raising prices to cover the cost of damage to the network
A furious Galway man who has been without power for 12 days says regular people should “stop being punished” as ESB prices could be hiked.
While he has praised ESB crews for their hard work across the country, he does not agree that the network’s loss should be put on customers - especially those who have been suffering without power for almost two weeks. He said: “The whole house is freezing but luckily we have a wood burner in the kitchen. So despite being told to get rid of our wood burners and our petrol generators, I can now assure them that they will be taking wood burners and generators from the people of Galway’s cold dead hands.
While the mobile network has largely been restored to normal now, Paddy was without service for five days when Storm Éowyn first hit. He lives with his two elderly parents in their 80s, and they are frozen. Despite getting a generator in the past few days, their home is not heating up.
