Irish authorities recommend charges against several individuals, including key associates of Daniel Kinahan, in connection with the 2016 murder of Eddie Hutch.

An Garda Síochána has recommended that several of Daniel Kinahan 's close associates, including Sean McGovern, Gary Finnegan, and Trevor Byrne, be charged over the fatal shooting of Eddie Hutch in 2016. This recommendation comes as the Director of Public Prosecutions ( DPP ) considers whether to bring charges against individuals connected to the Kinahan cartel in relation to the murder of Eddie Hutch . The investigation has identified approximately 10 individuals named in the Garda file.

Sources indicate that while some may have played minor roles in the conspiracy, others are suspected of having more significant involvement. The DPP will determine whether to pursue charges against those named in the file. Depending on the charges laid, some individuals could face murder indictments, while others might be charged with conspiracy or facilitating the killing. Sean McGovern, a 38-year-old previously sanctioned by the US Treasury along with Daniel Kinahan, is one of the individuals Gardaí want charged in the Eddie Hutch murder case. Currently detained in the United Arab Emirates while fighting extradition to Ireland, McGovern is already facing charges for the murder of Noel Kirwan and directing a criminal gang. Another key figure, Trevor Byrne, is currently serving a 17-and-a-half-year sentence for firearms offenses and an armed robbery. Gardaí believe Byrne, a 43-year-old from Dublin, acted as a gunman for the Kinahan cartel and was previously arrested and questioned in connection with Eddie Hutch's murder. Furthermore, Gardaí are recommending charges against a close associate of Byrne, who remains un-named due to legal constraints, and a Dubliner, Gary Finnegan, a long-time associate of Daniel Kinahan, who moved to Dubai with him in 2017.
