The collision took place between a car and a van just before the New Year

Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses after an elderly man passed away due to injuries suffered in a car crash two weeks ago.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man aged in his 90s, was transported to Mayo University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Gardai confirmed this evening, 13 January 2025, that this man has since passed away from these injuries. A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling on the N5 at the above time, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
