Gardai warn punters against drinking in public areas on St Patrick's Day
Nearly 150 barrels worth of drinks have been seized in the past, according to Chief Superintendent Lorraine Wheatley."In other years, we have filled 150 barrels with drink in the Temple Bar area so it is important that the message is sent out to young people that drink will be taken off them and they won't be allowed drink in public places."
Festival goers have been especially warned against getting drunk in tourist hotspots like Temple Bar, the Irish Independent reports.Parents have been encouraged to get ID wristbands for their children which could help if they get separated in the crowds. The wristbands are available at city centre stations in Store Street, Mountjoy, Bridewell, Pearse Street, and Kevin StreetOur Irish Mirror Sports Page - which brings you all your Irish and UK sports news - can be found here. The Irish Mirror Twitter account is @IrishMirror while our sports page is @MirrorSportIE.
