Ingebrigtsen, who had already hinted at a potential record-breaking performance, delivered with a stunning finish, clocking a time of 3:45.14. This eclipsed the previous record of 3:46.63 set just last Saturday by American runner Yared Nuguse at the Millrose Games in New York.
Ingebrigtsen's masterful performance saw him pass the 1,500m mark in a blistering 3:29.63, shaving almost a second off his own world record set on the same track in 2022. Fueled by the enthusiastic crowd, he maintained a relentless pace throughout the race, ultimately crossing the finish line in a time that solidified his place in history as the first man to break 3:46 indoors. Ireland's Cathal Doyle secured a commendable third place with an improved indoor mile best of 3:53.18, while Stefan Nillessen from the Netherlands claimed second place with a Dutch record of 3:52.70.
