Ireland is braced for the arrival of Storm Darragh , which is set to lead to miserable weather over the next 48 hours, including heavy rain and very strong and potentially damaging gusts of winds.
Ahead of the storm, Met Eireann has issued a number of Orange and Yellow wind and rain warnings, starting Thursday afternoon night and continuing through to Saturday. A status yellow wind warning is also in place for Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal from 1pm on Thursday until 9pm this evening, with strong and very gusty west to northwest winds potentially leading to hazardous travelling conditions due to falling branches and localised debris.
A status yellow wind warning has also been issued for the entire country, with this weather alert kicking in at 3pm on Friday and lasting for 24 hours before expiring at 3pm on Saturday. Met Eireann said that strong and gusty south to southwest winds veering northwest are expected on Friday night which could lead to fallen trees, loose debris, difficult travelling conditions and some wave overtopping.
