The remnants of former Hurricane Nigel are set to cause weather disruption today. Met Eireann has issued four separate weather warnings, including a Status Orange alert.

The remnants of ex Hurricane Nigel are set to cause heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across Ireland today.

The national forecaster said: “Turning wet and windy today. Some heavy showers at first before rain moves up from the south during the morning, spreading to all areas, heavy or intense at times, causing localised flooding. The rain will clear northeastwards through the evening with scattered showers following, some of these heavy and possibly thundery. Highest temperatures of 16C to 19C with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds developing, very strong for a time in the southeast.

It warns: “Spells of heavy rain accompanied by strong and gusty winds at times. Highest rain accumulations on hills and mountains. Potential Impacts: Localised flooding, Poor visibility, Travel disruption.”
