A fresh weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann as the multimillion euro clean-up operation continues after Friday’s weather event which saw winds of more than 180km/h in parts of the West. For Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Meath and Louth, a status yellow wind warning applies between 11am and 6am, while Kerry, Cork and Waterford are under an additional wind warning from 11pm until 6am on Monday.
“After this we expect that the remaining, approximately 100,000, customers will progressively have their supply restored over the course of the following week,” the ESB said. Ms Attridge said that teams will be out again on Sunday and will be working with the ESB to “prioritise sites” and to ensure “alternative water supplies and tankers” are made available to communities.
The storm has also disrupted several sporting fixtures and other outdoor events. The Allianz Football League Division 1 clash between Kerry and Donegal on Sunday was postponed because the Donegal team were not in a position to travel as a result of the weather.
