The Limerick businessman and racehorse owner says his approach has changed over time
JP McManus has divulged that for the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival , he’s placed his bets on just a single horse, which isn’t even from his own stable.
“Do you know, I don’t really bet like I used to,” he admitted. “In those days I always wanted to be in the fast lane. I was headstrong.” The wisdom of experience has also led him to caution, explaining, “Back then, I used to have my mind made up about things. That’s dangerous.” Despite having one of the most formidable line-ups for this year’s Cheltenham Festival and being the ante-post favourite for 12 out of the 28 races, the renowned Limerick businessman revealed his sole bet is on Copacabana, a horse trained by Willie Mullins and owned by Edward Ware.
