It might be the summer, but that doesn't mean Ireland isn't in line for some heavy rain and strong winds this week, as a live weather tracker shows which areas will be affected
Met Eireann are currently monitoring Hurricane Ernesto as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean, with it tracking to be downgraded to a tropical storm.
He shared: “Ernesto just about hanging on to its hurricane status but weakening quickly now over cooler water. Latest charts show winds Wednesday night could meet warning levels on West coast and on high ground. That second low following on Thursday night could be stronger for some areas.” “Met Eireann will be monitoring the evolution of Ernesto and any potential influence it could have on our weather. Hurricane Ernesto is forecast to transition to a mid-latitude storm near northeastern Canada early this week with its remnants then tracking eastwards into the open Atlantic,” the Irish Mirror reported they said.
Wet and windy Wednesday night with heavy and persistent rain moving eastwards over the country, bringing the chance of flooding, accompanied by fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. Winds will ease westerly as the rain clears eastwards. Lowest temperatures 12 to 16 degrees.
