Former France U21 International Lys Mousset has signed with Bohemians FC after a successful trial period. The 28-year-old forward, who previously played in the Premier League, is looking to restart his career with the Dublin club.

Bohemians have confirmed the arrival of former France U21 international Lys Mousset . The 28-year-old forward made 88 Premier League appearances and scored nine goals between 2017 and 2021. In 2016, he joined Bournemouth after impressing in Ligue 1 with Le Havre. He later moved to top-flight rivals Sheffield United, becoming their record signing in a reported €12 million deal.

However, Mousset increasingly struggled for game time after the Blades’ relegation to the Championship and after a brief stint on loan with Serie A side Salernitana, moved to the Bundesliga with Bochum ahead of the 2022-23 season. But he failed to establish himself in Germany, returning to France for a loan spell with second-tier side Nîmes and managing only one goal from 11 appearances. Disciplinary issues reportedly blighted his time with Bochum and a ruptured Achilles tendon in May 2023 prematurely ended his second spell in France. His Bochum contract was terminated on 9 January 2024 without having made a single appearance. The attacker joins the Dublin side after a successful trial, having spent more than a year without a club. Manager Alan Reynolds praised Mousset as an “exceptional talent” and said he has settled in well to the club but urged supporters to be patient as he adapts to football after a long spell out. Following confirmation of the arrivals of Connor Parsons and Alex Lacey yesterday, he becomes the Gypsies’ seventh signing ahead of the 2025 season as they bid to improve on last season’s eighth-place finish
