A man in his 40s is fighting for his life in hospital after being seriously injured in a suspected 'one punch' incident outside a pub in Dublin. Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s at the scene.

A 42-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck in a suspected ' one punch ' incident outside a pub in Dublin . The man was reportedly punched once in the car park of the Clonsilla Inn on Clonsilla Road shortly before 11pm last night. Sources indicate that the altercation initially took place inside the pub before escalating into the car park. A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene.

Gardaí and an ambulance responded to the incident, and the injured man was transported to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown. His condition remains critical. In a statement, Gardaí confirmed they responded to reports of an incident at the entrance to the car park of a licensed premises on Clonsilla Road. They stated a man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he remains in critical condition. A man in his 20s has since been arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and any available footage from the area around the time of the incident. They urge anyone who was in the vicinity of the premises, including motorists with dashcam footage from Clonsilla Road between the junctions of Shelerin Road and Porterstown Road, to come forward.
