Martin King and Jenny McCarthy discuss their Christmas traditions, including Martin's slightly controversial cheese board choices.
Martin King and wife Jenny McCarthy have opened up about their Christmas favourites, from movies and songs to what goes on their cheese board s. However, Martin explained what gets him into trouble with Jenny over Christmas - the cheese board . The husband and wife duo also shared how much they absolutely love the festive season, with photographer Jenny noting that her presenter husband gets that love from his mother.
'The countdown is really on,' Martin said, in a new festive episode of An Audience with the King and his Queen podcast. Jenny replied: 'You're obsessed with it. I mean, I love it... we love it. I've always loved Christmas but when I met you, you are so obsessed with it. 'And your poor mammy, she was obsessed with it and I think you got it from her.' The Ireland AM presenter’s mum Christina passed away from dementia back in 2019, just a month after the sudden death of his dad Martin. Martin also joked about what causes a bit of trouble in their house over the Christmas. A cheese or charcuterie board is part and parcel of the perfect Christmas for many people, as Christmas is a time for enjoying great food and a good cheese board allows you to graze at your leisure, plus it can be personalised. Martin explained that the cheese boards he has come home with from a popular supermarket in past years have not always received the warmest of receptions, as he picked up a 'ready made' one rather than selecting the cheeses himself. 'As you get nearer to Christmas is goes on special offer 50% off, there's about five or six cheeses there, it comes with a relish. It comes on a cheese board. It doesn't have its own crackers but you can buy a box of crackers',
