Ryan Meikle survived a strong challenge from Fallon Sherrock to advance to the second round of the World Darts Championship. Sherrock, the first female player to win a match in the tournament, took the first set but Meikle rallied to win in a decider. He will now face Luke Littler in the next round.
RYAN MEIKLE held off a spirited fightback from Fallon Sherrock to set up a second-round clash with last year’s runner-up Luke Littler in the World Darts Championship.
“I felt good coming into the match and then the first leg I missed a few darts and all of a sudden Fallon went out and I was on the back foot and before I knew it she won the first set,” Meikle told Sky Sports. Speaking about Saturday night’s second-round match with teenage star Littler, Meikle added: “For me, it’s an unbelievable prize.
But she could not take out 68 points in 18 attempts, with her compatriot eventually winning the leg in 33 darts. “It’s amazing, the whole thing I was thinking throughout the game was to play Michael van Gerwen on Friday,” he said.Mike De Decker crashed out to Luke Woodhouse in the second round.
